Job Description

Tatsu Works is a company passionate about connecting communities through Tatsumeeko, our modern fantasy RPG. We are looking for a Junior Game Writer to work on Tatsumeeko, the next game expansion to our popular Tatsu.GG platform used by more than 1.4 million Discord communities. We place fun gameplay, awesome user experience and mass adoption at the forefront of our creative vision.

Do note that this role is a 6-month contract opportunity.

In your application, you are required to provide your own writing portfolio and samples.

Junior Game Writer Responsibilities:

  • Support the Narrative department in developing lore and background stories, enhancing the narrative depth of Tatsumeeko.
  • Build upon existing narrative material by writing story beats, scripts, character lore and background information.
    • Be faithful to references and established lore, ensuring continuity and respect for the game's universe.
  • Adapt writing to the established "house style" to maintain a consistent tone and style throughout the game.
  • Collaborate with Game Designers to ensure a cohesive and engaging narrative experience.
  • Work with local and remote teams across different time zones, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Assist the Senior Game Writer with any other ad-hoc communications or coordination tasks, supporting smooth project operations.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have at least 1 year of experience as a narrative designer for video games, especially in JRPGs, Gacha, or mobile games.
  • Are passionate about and familiar with anime and games, especially JRPGs.
  • Are capable of giving and receiving constructive feedback, and collaborating with your team and other departments to develop a compelling narrative.
  • Possess excellent command of written English, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, in both American and British English.
  • Value multiple viewpoints and incorporate the ideas of people from various nationalities, genders, and religions into your work.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills.
